Please Help our Dogs Receive Heart Worm Treatment

🐾 Calling All Pet Lovers: Help Us Save Lives! 🐾

Join us in our mission to save lives and give these furry friends the second chance they deserve!

We are reaching out to you in need of urgent support from the Yongin Animal Protection Association. Our dog rescue has recently relocated to a new shelter, a move that promised us better facilities and new opportunities for us and our furry friends. However, with our move comes us needing to close our relationship with our long-time vet partner who was conveniently located next to our old location. This transition has come with a significant increase in the cost of heartworm treatment for our dogs.

In the past, in collaboration with our past medical partners, treating a single one of our dogs for heartworms typically ranged between $400 to $600. Unfortunately, due to various factors including rising medical costs, increase demands, and our lack of current veterinary partners, the price for each dog's treatment has now escalated to upwards of $1,200.

That all includes:

  • $500 - $800 of bottles of treatment (dependent on the weight of the dog)
  • $150+ for additional blood tests, ultrasound costs, pre-treatment medication, and post-treatment medication.

And unfortunately, almost all our dogs are on the larger spectrum, so it would be expected of us to pay for more of those bottles of treatment in order to get our dogs cleared of heartworms.

This is a staggering difference in cost for our organization, especially considering our already burdened financial status from our very recent move and considering the large number of dogs under our care.

It's also important to note that we have our dogs on monthly prevention to protect them from parasites including heartworm. Although, the prevention prevents dogs from spreading heartworms to each other, dogs testing positive for heartworms most likely contracted the parasite prior to being admitted to our rescue will still carry them until they are properly treated. Heartworms itself is very treatable, however, the condition can be life-threatening depending on the progression of proliferation of the parasites. It is our duty to provide them with necessary treatment and care.

Currently, we have over 500 dogs eagerly awaiting their chance at a healthy and happy life. However, before these lovely fur babies can find their forever homes and fly out to them, they must undergo heartworm treatment and be cleared to ensure their well-being abroad with their forever families.

We are determined to not let financial hurdles hinder us from giving these wonderful dogs the care and love they deserve. That's why we are excited to kick off this fundraiser campaign to reach out to the kind-hearted individuals like you for support. For this campaign, we are asking support for a handful of our dogs who desperately need heartworm treatment first.

Dogs who need heartworm treatment now:

Carla, Ron, Mateo, Penelope, Beau, Edison, Zico, Katya, Hook, Wiley, Lovely, Bambi, Silas, Bianca, Lana, Starlight, Lapras, Isaac, Cutie, Jamie, Moon, Kaya, Donghwa

That's 23 of our dogs who need to be treated of heartworms. We are now asking you to help us raise $23,000 for our dogs who desperately need to rid of those parasites living in their hearts. Your generous donations will go a long way to change a life and ensure each of our furry friends receives the necessary heartworm treatment they need to thrive.

How to help a dog with their heartworm treatment:

  1. Donate: Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a meaningful impact on the lives of our dogs. Your donation will go directly towards covering the expenses of heartworm treatment.
  2. Spread the Word: Share our campaign with friends and familywho also love animals and want to make a difference. The more people who know about our cause, the better.
  3. Fundraise: Consider organizing your own fundraising event or initiative in your community to support our cause. Whether it's a bake sale, a sponsored run, or an online auction, every effort counts towards saving lives.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these precious animals. Our dogs have gone through so much already, so let's ensure that each and every dog at YAPA receives the care they need and deserve.
