Dandy

Dandy is a medium-sized male jindo mixed breed. We're not sure when he arrived at the shelter since his intake information is missing, but it was likely before 2019 during one of the shelter's management transitions. Dandy has always been known as the timid one. Even though he has been at the shelter for a long time, he is still quite fearful and afraid when we go in to leash him and his kennelmates for outside time. However, we have been witnessing a slow transformation in him! With every walk he takes, he becomes a little bit more open. He definitely wants to go out but is just afraid of people handling him. Once he's out, he's fine and dandy! We can see the tension in Dandy slowly melting away the longer he spends time outside with our volunteers. Dandy just needs stability and gentle love in his life.

Here's what one of our volunteers had to say about Dandy:
"Just beneath Dandy's very shy and apprehensive exterior is a playful, happy, energetic dog! Dandy and I didn't have a lot of time together, but we walked long enough for him to allow me to scratch his chin a bit, and he even took me on a pretty good run down the walking path. Dandy seemed most at ease when his pack of roommates was nearby, and I can totally understand why they would be more of a comfort to him than an unknown human (me) at the other end of his leash. I really get the sense that Dandy will come right out of his shell once he has the security of a comfortable home and the same friendly faces smiling at him day after day! His trust in humans is a bit tenuous, but it's definitely there."
